Having a Raspberry pi 4 connect with Connect 4

Wondering if there is a way to connect a raspberry pi to the rev Pi connect 4. I want to perform high frequency pwm that the revolution cannot handle, but a pi 4 can. Id like to be able to tell the pi to commence firing the pwm and allow the pi to transfer data to the rev pi like voltage reading. I have a Dio and aio to connect the connect4. Id like to utilize python only.
