Codesys control service for RevPi Connect randomly stops working

Post by MaltarLED »

Hello,

I have a few RevPi PLC controllers licensed with 'CODESYS Control for Raspberry Pi SL'. CODESYS runtime randomly stops working on the controllers - Modbus server is stops being reachable and I don't see the controllers when I scan network with CODESYS.

Controllers are working properly, and they are on the network. When I check the codesyscontrol.service on the controller, it says it is active (exited). In the codesys log files, I can't see any irregularity. After I restart the controller, everything works properly.

Log file:

The journalctl does not show any relevant informations:

Code: Select all

pi@TBreR2:~ $ sudo journalctl -u codesyscontrol.service

Mar 03 00:21:24 TBreR2 systemd[1]: Started LSB: Prepares and starts codesyscontrol.
When I restart the codesyscontrol.service it is not enough, I need to restart the whole controller for the Codesys runtime to start working again.

Did anybody else had this problem? Is there anything I can check / fix for this to stop happening?

The PLCs are delivered to the end user and they are put into operation, so this a big problem for us.

Hello MaltarLED,

Your controllers are licensed with 'CODESYS Control for Raspberry Pi SL'.
Please note that: 'CODESYS Control for Raspberry Pi SL' is for non-commercial use. For the Revolution Pi, you need "CODESYS Control for Raspberry Pi MC SL".
To have a suitable setup using Codesys and the Revolution Pi, I recommand you to have a look at the checklist below:

Hello Ulrich,

thank you for your response. I must ask, how can I be sure that the license is the cause of this behavior?

I don't see any indication in the logs that there is a problem with the license. Since I have bought licenses, I would not want it to happen that I buy them again, more expensively, and the problem remains.

Best regards.

Hello MaltarLED,

The license cannot be 100% the cause of the problem. I wanted to remind you that we do not support "CODESYS Control for Raspberry Pi SL".

Hello Ulrich,

we updated the controllers to MC SL version of the runtime. Also, we put some more controllers to our testing environment, installed the CODESYS Control for Raspberry Pi MC SL runtime, and licensed them with the propriate license. Also, we have done everything the provided Codesys checklist.

Again, after some time, randomly, codesyscontrol.service stops running and it can not be started again until we phasically reset the controller. We are in need of the cause and solution of this problem.
