Hello!
I understand that the Connect+'s RTC chip is backed up by a capacitor that's meant to last for at least 24 hours.
Is there any (relatively convenient) way to extend that through connecting a battery power backup? Or, any ideas that could make the RTC remain valid for (much) longer than 24h when the device is powered down?

you understand in the right way.
With the current hardware, there is no possibility from our side to expand this.
There are certainly "tinkering possibilities", but the housing must be opened for this. Remember that this will void the warranty.
But there is hope for the RevPi 4 products, check the following link and search for "RTC".
